Who can request signed orders and requisitions and what
              can they order?

It's crucial to ensure that the person or organisation requesting the medicine is legally
allowed to do so. Different prescribers have different rights, so a quick check is always a
good idea. Some professions, such as paramedics, can obtain medicines via signed orders/
              requisitions without being a prescriber.

              Record keeping

When you supply a prescription-only medicine (POM) from a pharmacy, it's important to
keep a record. An entry into the register must be made. It must include:

                 • The date the POM was supplied
                 • The name, quantity and, where it is not apparent,
formulation and strength of the POM supplied
                 • The name and address, trade, business or profession of the person receiving
                     the medicines.
                 • The purpose for which it was sold or supplied.

              Supplying signed orders/requisitions

                 • The medicines supplied do not require labelling, which makes things a bit simpler
                 • Only supply full packs, and make sure the signed order or requisition reflects this.

              Pricing with transparency

Pricing is up to the pharmacy, but here are some friendly suggestions:
                 • Use the list price – the price you paid for the item
                 • The NHS dictionary of medicines and devices (dm+d) can help with branded
                     products for an indicative price.
                 • For items over £100, add a 2% net ingredient cost supplement (apply this to
individual items, not the whole order)
                 • As it is a sale VAT is required to be added at 20%
