Ordering Schedule 2 and 3 CDs
It is a legal requirement that healthcare professionals purchasing Controlled
Drugs in Schedule 2 and 3 use a mandatory Requisition Form (FP10CDF)
It is a legal requirement that the requisition form is signed by a GMC
registered doctor, this cannot be delegated to another member of
staff. The signing GP should be informed to the relevant wholesales
so they have copies of the signatures on file. I always recommend
you keep copies of your issued requisition forms for a period of time
just incase there is a query. You would never issue another should one
be mislaid so having copies could be useful. Just a few months will do.
Hopefully the information in this article has refreshed some of your
knowledge on CDs and answered some common questions.
I would encourage you all to review your SOPs relating to CDs and to
consider your policies with regarding to repeat prescribing.
