• Supporting Point 1: Dell remains a cost-focussed competitor with a continued focus on Small to
Medium Business (SMB) and UNIX migration.

• Supporting Point 2: Dell are moving into Cloud architectures and the Services Segment through
various acquisitions. However, certain acquisitions have been discard in favour of a new acquisition
leading to uncertainty in their direction.

• Supporting Point 3: Dell have recently introduced FlexMem, an extended memory option that allows
2 CPUs to use the memory attached to all 4 CPU sockets on the server, however this introduces a
memory performance hit on those CPUs.
