To recruit 540 participants NEF will identify
vulnerable participants through door-to-door
canvassing (by Iraqi staff, men, and women), and
coordinated referrals (by local and governorate
councils, other NGOs, IOM/UN partners, CRCs,
MOLSA), ensuring interventions reach diverse
communities, are coordinated with other programs,
and avoid duplication. In NEF’s experience, during
and after door-to-door canvassing, local community
members often guide project staff to households
receiving little assistance or where people
experience one or more vulnerabilities, including
persons with disabilities and FHH. Project staff will
conduct an initial vulnerability assessment (VA) of
potential beneficiaries. In addition, the vulnerability
assessment will evaluate an individual’s willingness
and ability to engage in productive activities,
improving the likelihood of beneficiary success and
mitigating the risk that livelihoods grants are used
for non-livelihoods purposes.
