Provide cash grants to 272 beneficiaries to support business start-up or expansion.
Participants who have completed business development training and developed a
viable business plan (NEF expects 85% of initial trainees) will receive financial
support (average 800 USD) as start-up grants to support the creation, restart, or
expansion of micro-enterprises and home-based businesses. Actual grant size will
be determined according to the beneficiary’s business plan, which is subject to
review by a grant committee made up of NEF and partner staff and select
community members. The committee will select recipients to receive grants based
on participation in and completion of the BD training, submission and scoring of
their business plan, and recommendations from community members on the
committee of business feasibility.
Provide small grants to 117 producers
and processors for recovery of
agricultural assets. Following
training, project staff will support
producers and processors to create
an agribusiness plan, that establishes
their individual needs for inputs,
supplies, or equipment in order to
resume or expand production. NEF
will facilitate linkages with suppliers
of quality inputs (wherever possible)
and provide cash grants of $800 per
person (average) to support the
purchase of agricultural inputs or
recovery of lost agricultural assets.
Grants will be disbursed with
attention to agricultural seasons.
Provide small grants to 16 VT
graduates to start self-employment
related to vocational training.
Following training, project staff will
support beneficiaries who wish to use
VT skills for self-employment, rather
than employment, to produce a
business plan. The plan will be
reviewed by the project grant
committee and selected participants
(up to 16 VT trainees per year) will
receive financial support (average
800 USD) as start-up grants to
support the creation of micro-
enterprises.
