It is always believed that during blended learning that the teacher should use various
technologies to facilitate the learning process, thus in fact means that these learning
processes must be active and engaging. The active engagement can be inclusive
of collaboration, social, interaction, communication, and knowledge
construction among the students, as part of the 21st-century skills required within
students.
Therefore to make acceptable active and engaging activities should be aligned to what
students need to learn, thus means that the learning objectives need to provide
students with a roadmap that explains where they are going in the course and what to
expect when they get there. Secondly, there also need to be clear instructions and
expectations to provide clear guidance on the expected outcomes. Finally,
offer multiple task activities, as a teacher one should consider developing several
different types of activities and assignments, and look for ways to encourage students
to make meaningful connections between their learning ecosystem and course
material.
Assessment of supplemental blended learning
During any form of learning there would be several types of assessment that would be
conducted to determine the outcomes of the different learning process. Therefore, it
is crucial that the appropriate assessment is conducted to check for student depth
during learning. Looking at the current mode of online assessment many teachers
normally opt for the online/quiz test as they are meant for quick grading by the LMS.
This method might as well dilute the ultimate aim of blended learning as it is similar to
that of face to face instructional method.
Therefore, other means of assessment methods during blended learning can be
applied to create an engaging and creative environment for students to learning, apply
and construct their own knowledge.
