Connected Action Roadmap
CAR is a process of school improvement that
brings coherence to the work of educators by
connecting standards, student learning, assess-
ment, professional learning, educator effective-
ness, and school climate and culture to the work
of professional learning communities. CAR
makes curriculum development a priority — a
shift from program to practice, and is the NJ
Department of Education’s vision for teaching,
leading, and learning in New Jersey schools.
You are the driver about to embark on a journey.
How do you ensure that you get to your destination?
1. Choose a reliable vehicle.
2. Consult a map or GPS and plan your route.
3. Navigate the terrain, whether it is smooth or bumpy, and steer.
4. Pay attention to the directional signs and guideposts to keep on track.
