Describe your logistics experience.
My logistics experience originates from my active duty time in the US Navy and the movement and deployment of
large operational squadrons to and from deployed sites throughout the world. Through those experiences I gained
a healthy respect for a vigorous logistics chain.
In any logistics evolution the requirement for the optimum logistic footprint is of vital importance. As with my
current customer, I have had to ensure that we have varied logistical footprints (packups) to support different
missions. This entails me getting the right equipment in the right place at the right time. I position/reposition not
only flyable assets, but also assets that are not ready for issue (NRFI). Most importantly if I have an Aircraft On
Ground (AOG) situation, I must utilize the capabilities of my team to move the parts/equipment to where the
aircraft is located. This is accomplished through shipping companies both domestic and international, and
occasionally military airlift capability.
Describe your procurement and vendor management experience.
My procurement and vendor management experience covers a wide range of situations. My current customer
utilizes both government and commercial sources of supply. I have a great amount of experience with procuring
parts through the Department of Defense (DOD)/Defense Logistics Agency (DLA) systems. This is accomplished
through the Military Standard Requisitioning & Issue Procedures (MILSTRIP) System.
I have expert experience in the procurement of commercially acquired parts and services. I have a vendor base
that I manage to verify proper compliance and quality standards are met to ensure a quality product every time we
place an order.
Additionally, as the US Navy “Sun Sets” the P-3 aircraft from active service, they will be letting fewer contracts on
P-3 parts and services. My challenge now is to analyze where we will be running into Diminishing Manufacturing
Sources and Material Shortages (DMSMS) of P-3 parts and services. My current customer will be flying the P-3
aircraft for a number of years to come so my team must remain vigilant and seek out new capabilities to integrate
into our vendor base for it to remain significant.
