Quality Systems Audits

It is the responsibility of the local Top Management to ensure that the

quality management system (QMS) meets the requirements of
AS9100 along with any other approvals which the certified entity

holds. The auditing process is welcomed by GKN Aerospace as an
effective tool to examine the compliance and effectiveness of our
QMS’s.

It is understood that the QS audits are not considered to be an all

encompassing assessment of the GKN sites Quality Management
System, as the QS audits are based on sampling, like most forms of
auditing.

The QS audits are conducted by the Regional Audit Team on behalf of

the Certified Entities Top Management with the intention of ensuring
that processes and procedures of the QMS are being completed as
documented and that they satisfy the requirements of applicable

standards.

Completing this activity utilising a Regional Audit Team provides a
level of independence from the QMS and allows us to utilize a
standardized approach in QS Auditing across GKN Aerospace, which

in turn contributes to the continual improvement of our sites QMS(s)
