        1. Types of Research

        a. Library Research

The kind of this research method is library research. Library research is used to
get the data of the theories in the research. Library research is to make the sources of
the library become a benefit to get the data in the research (Zed, 2004:4)

        b. Qualitative Research

Qualitative research is the research which does not need any statistics or other
quantification (Yogyakara: PUSTAKA PELAJAR: 2009:4). Qualitative needs any words to
explain the theories.

        c. Descriptive Research

Library research quotable with descriptive research. Because the research
describes the theory which includes the research. Basically, there are three elements
of qualitative research. First. The data get from any sources. Commonly from
interviews or observation or questionnaires. Second, qualitative research consists of
analysis procedures and interpretations which used to get theories. Third, qualitative
research is written oral statement (Yogyakara: PUSTAKA PELAJAR: 2009:7).

So, from these elements we can conclude that qualitative research is
descriptive research because to get data from the written and oral statements. Do not
need any quantification any more.

        2. Focus of Research

The current study is about investigating the trends of e-learning tools and
tendencies in order to find out the pros and cons of e-learning tools and technologies.
In doing so, a questionnaire was administered with the aim of identifying learners and
the instructor’s views of e-learning education and the use of Blackboard for e-learning.

        3. Technique of Data Collection

The data was collected from the teachers and students of the University College
of Al Ardha, Jazan University. These teachers and students are from the English
department, Physics department and those from general subjects. Most of the
teachers and students are using Blackboard for their lectures. Only a few of them are
using Blackboard for other activities like attempting quizzes and assignments. As this
research is about to find out the pros and cons of e-learning tools and technologies
that’s why the electronic tool of google form is used to collect data. Via google form,
a questionnaire is composed including 12 questions where teachers and students were
required to choose ‘yes’ or ‘no’ answers and with multiple choice questions where
they are asked to pick the value which they prefer in providing a justification for the
section. Moreover, the questionnaire is categorized into two main types of questions

                                                                                                    381
