Abstract
The evolving needs of the labor market to achieve the vision of KSA 2030 seek for
modern trends in the world of digital learning. This paper discusses the effectiveness of
microteaching a qualitative teacher training technique that provides new Saudi teaching
assistants an opportunity to boost up their teaching skills with realtime teaching experiences
in English language classrooms via an e-learning platform. The teacher trainees make use of
microlearning – a flexible and costeffective method that offers a variety of formats to enrich
the learning of students. This paper explores the phases, impact, and core skills of
microteaching and the implementation of microlearning formats. Microteaching helps the
new teachers to learn the art of teaching at ease and they can be monitored for employee
development and performance enhancement purposes. The paper also reflects on the
flexible approach of microlearning formats such as digital flashcards, infographics, and mobile
apps which are reusable learning objects. The focus of this paper is on teaching with
technology & learning with technology. The author made a search of many databases and
reviewed articles in various educational journals and books. An online interview is also
conducted in this process. The primary data is from the teachers’ participation through
questionnaires. The analysis of the data suggests few drawbacks of this strategy, for example,
new teacher trainees experienced a small level of anxiety being in virtual classrooms. Despite
some problems, it is found that the microteaching and microlearning strategy through e-
learning platforms is very useful for teacher trainees as well as students and it is very easy to
apply this strategy in any organization.
