in every step. In addition, the teaching assistants completed an evaluation form that
follows a fivepoint Likerttype scale and contributes to the identifying and mentioning
of the microteaching’s strengths and weaknesses. The evaluation form pays attention
to certain criteria such as: suitable lesson planning, clarity in presentation, interaction
with students, and use of collaborative teaching techniques, classroom management,
and efficient use of teaching time.
The main purpose of the present research was to investigate teachers’ opinions
regarding micro teaching as a training technique, exploring to what scope it proved to
be a beneficial procedure. Likewise, further objectives were to investigate beliefs
about microteaching’s effect on various aspects of modern teaching and to examine
the role of an e-learning platform – The blackboard system in microteaching
procedures. For this research s purpose, the case study method was chosen, along
with newly recruited teaching assistants who went through this pedagogical training
during the academic year 144041 with the intention of faculty development which is
strongly backed by Al Ardhah University College of Jazan University.
The research was carried out on completion of the program and more
specifically in October 2018. Specifically, a combination of qualitative and quantitative
research was carried out so as to provide a thorough study of the main factors of the
issue. Subsequently, two semistructured online interviews, one synchronous and the
other asynchronous were conducted with experienced researchers of international
fame. The aim of these interviews was to primarily generate data through
conversations between the researcher and "respondent". The respondents provided
their valuable insight and shared their expertise with unbiased opinions on
microteaching practice and microlearning tool as a strategy to improve the quality of
education. Moreover, the interviews were intended at highlighting key points and
determining the conceptual criteria of the questionnaire to be applied later for the
phase of quantitative research. The interviews contributed to clarifying the variables
later at the quantitative stage of the research. A questionnaire was designed in
compliance with the research objectives. It is a known fact that a questionnaire is a
useful tool that is often used in scientific researches as its results can be easily
quantified. Google forms questionnaire was used for the statistical analysis of the
questionnaires.
Results
The interviews which were conducted in the qualitative phase of the research
pointed out that microteaching proved to be a very beneficial training technique for
every trainee or teacher. Even though this situation at first was peculiar and full of
nervousness for the trainees (1/5), the valuable feedback provided at the end,
stimulated the improvement of skills such as lesson planning, learning time
