Camps
The last camp AYO held was in 2011, before the first Europe tour. Best to have at least 3
nights. Rehearsal clusters or weekend workshops are more affordable and less hassle than 2
nights at a camp. Needs to be fully catered with bottomless tea/coffee.
Needs to have room for 50-60 people to live in. Sometimes MD lives in too - need separate
cottage/unit.
The ideal camp has
o 1 very large room for tutti rehearsal & 2 other halls/large rooms (incl. dining) and 3-4
smaller rooms for sectionals (can be bedrooms)
if the camp does not have adequate facilities, research whether there are
community halls or a school nearby that can be hired
o A separate cottage for MD accommodation
o A beach/forest/shops nearby for group activities/exercise
o Isolation - so the rehearsals finishing at 10pm don't cause nuisance to neighbours
Need to prepare a camp schedule. Don't want to exhaust the players or else rehearsals
become unproductive. Template camp schedule:
