4. Player Administration
Arrange for the audition of new and existing players annually and for the appointment
of players to the orchestra.
o Inform Treasurer and Secretary of appointments.
Monitor attendance, administer leave applications and follow up absences.
Manage player issues as they arise. Follow up on player questions or requests in a
timely manner; help promote positive relations between the players and Committee.
5. Development
Actively work to retain existing AYO players and attract new players to the orchestra.
Establish positive contacts with other arts organisations, media outlets, music
retailers, music directors, school and private music instructors in Auckland and regular
performance destinations.
Work to expand public awareness of AYO and maintain a positive image of the
orchestra.
Keep eye out for opportunities – rehearsal and performance venues, soloists, design,
promotion.
6. Reports
Prepare a monthly report to the Executive Committee regarding progress on
Directorship, Scheduling, Player Administration, Music Administration and Development as
outlined above.
Prepare an annual report to the Annual General Meeting regarding musical activities
during the year, plans for the next year and reflections on education and development
goals.
7. Sabbatical and Succession
Notify the Executive Committee at least 9 months before taking a sabbatical.
Notify the Executive Committee at least 12 months before intending to step down from
the position.
Performance Review
After completion of the second programme, annually.
The Chairperson will undertake the review. This will include discussions with senior players,
Committee members and, at his or her discretion, independent consultants.
