                          would be talking of the Messiah’s birth.





                   11. They found none who seemed to have a


                          knowledge of the newborn King.  Worse


                          still,          rather              than            calling              forth


                          expressions  of  joy,  surprise  and  fear


                          mingled with contempt was the result.





                   12. They  rehearsed  their  traditions,  extol


                          their religion and their own piety, looked


                          down  upon  those  they  termed  as


                          heathen,  yet  their  hearts  were  not


                          touched  by  the  announcement  of  the


                          Savior’s birth.





                   13. King Herod was concerned over the talk


                          of a new king, a possible rival.
