knowledge of the newborn King. Worse
still, rather than calling forth
expressions of joy, surprise and fear
mingled with contempt was the result.

their religion and their own piety, looked
down upon those they termed as
heathen, yet their hearts were not
touched by the announcement of the
Savior’s birth.
