hath put all things under Christ’s feet. But

when God saith, All things are put under Christ

(and he commences his reign upon his own

throne), it is manifest that God is excepted,

who did put all things under Christ. And when

all things shall be subdued unto Christ, then

shall Christ also himself be subject unto God

that put all things under him, that God may be

all in all.”

That this is a correct version of this scripture

may be easily verified. The only question that

can be raised is concerning the persons to

whom the pronouns refer; and any attempt to

make the pronouns refer to Christ which in

the foregoing paraphrase are referred to God,

will be found, when traced through the

quotation, to make poor sense of Paul’s

language.
