Apple Dumplings




               Pastry (store bought or homemade)
               ⅓ cup sugar
               1 tbsp cinnamon
               4 tsp butter


               For the syrup:
               ⅔ cup brown sugar
               1 ½ cup water
               2 tbsp butter
               ¼ tsp cinnamon

               Roll out pastry as for a pie and cut in 7 inch squares. Peel and core apples, leave
               whole. Place an apple on each square of dough and fill cavity with sugar, cinnamon and
               1 tsp butter. Bring up opposite points of dough to overlap apple. Moisten to seal and
               place dumplings in baking dish. Heat syrup to boiling. Pour hot syrup around dumpling
               and bake at 400 for 40-45 mins or until apples are tender.
