DISCOVERY SKILLS In the book ‘The Innovators DNA’ authors Jeff Dyer, Hal Gregersen and Clayton M. Christensen set out to explore successful innovators and their skillsets. The study involved over 5,000 executives, and identified five skills that innovative thinkers regularly practice. They found the most innovative CEOs spend 50% more time practicing these five specific innovation skills than do their less creative counterparts – and that anyone can follow them to become innovators themselves. What this study shows is that creativity is much more learned than we think. They assert that virtually everyone has some capacity for creativity and innovative thinking. It just requires a change in behaviour. Warwickers has a program to help develop and enhance these skills.. 33
