Method Statement
Steam Cleaning
Equipment
Colour coded clothes

Procedure only to undertaken by trained personal.
Ensure hands are dry when plugging and unplugging electrical machinery.
When plugging a machine into an electrical socket, make sure the switch is in the off
position.
Do not adjust or change the settings when the machine is plugged in.
Check the power supply cables and plug for damage, report and label if necessary,
remove and do not use.
When using the Seam Cleaner, safety glasses and gloves must be worn.
Ensure PAT is up to date (Portable appliance testing)
Avoid placing open skin near the steam pressure nozzle.
All equipment should be clean and dry before use.
Be aware that excess steam may affect fire/smoke detectors.
Avoid cleaning any electrical equipment.
If wall cleaning, cover electrical plug sockets.
All equipment should be left clean, tidy and dry and stored away
Tasks
1 Prepare cleaning solution according to manufacturer’s instruction, adding
detergent to water.
2 Clean surrounding areas and waste bins.
3 Reline waste bins if appropriate.
4 Report any signs of infestation.
5 Clean equipment and check for safety.
6 Return equipment, warning signs and materials to store.
