Method Statement
Single Solution Mopping
Equipment
Personal protective clothing. Warning signs as appropriate.
Any single solution mopping system. Cleaning agent.
Bucket, cloth if appropriate. Abrasive pad.
Health, Safety and Environmental Requirements
Wear personal protective clothing.
Use as little water as necessary.
Do not use soaps as they can make the floor slippery.
Tasks
1 Put on personal protective clothing.
2 Assemble equipment.
3 Place warning signs.
4 Ventilate the area if appropriate.
5 Prepare cleaning solution according to manufactures instructions, adding
detergent to water.
6 Apply solution to an area of the floor using mop.
7 Mop the floor using a figure of 8 stroke with each pass overlapping.
8 Clean adjacent to skirting by ‘ cutting in ‘ parallel to skirting.
9 Use abrasive pad to remove stubborn marks.
10 Ensure bucket is behind line of work.
11 When wringing out mop, stand in front of wringer and press down firmly (if
applicable)
12 Change cleaning solution when dirty.
13 Leave floor as dry as possible.
14 Clean equipment and check for safety.
