Kitchen Area/ 1
Equipment
Personal protective equipment Warning signs/alternative route signs.
Broom/dust control mop as necessary. Single solution mopping equipment ( i.e.
bucket, wringer and mop.
Cleaning agent. Bucket.
Cloths. Vacuum.
Refuse sacks Abrasive pad.
Health, Safety and Environmental Requirements
Wear personal protective clothing
Do not use soaps as these can make the floor slippery.
Avoid splashing cleaning agent.
Wipe any splashes immediately.
Be aware of a potential trip hazard.
Only return warning signs to store when floor is dry and safe to walk on.
Tasks
1 Put on personal protective clothing.
2 Assemble equipment and check for safety.
3 Place warning signs and / or alternative route signs.
4 Ventilate the area if appropriate.
5 Check surfaces for chewing gum and remove if necessary.
6 Remove debris from areas of flooring not vacuumed daily.
Floors
7 Sweep paying particular attention to edges and corners.
8 Pick up soil, place in refuse sack and remove to disposal point.
9 Prepare cleaning solution in bucket according to manufacturers instructions
adding detergent to water.
10 Apply solution to an area of floor using mop
