P. 19
Working through Module 3 - you will have taken some time visioning your
4 next year. If you have done the work, your list of categories and goals may be
dreams and outlining your ideal life, or at least establishing your goals for the
clear to you already. If not, take time to identify the categories you want to
work on, the goals within them and why they are important to you. The
excerpt from the Hikmaty Journal on the next page gives you a Goal Setting
Framework to work up your goals in detail. Our Framework allows for you to
work on up to 8 goals in each Sprint Phase with up to 12 tasks for each.
Categories and Goals
Keep it simple and start small. Three to five categories is probably ideal with
one to two goals in each because you do not want to spread yourself too
thinly, or set yourself up to fail with the overwhelm of too many things to do.
The categories could come from our Life Pie, projects you are already
working on or you can identify your own. Some ideas are: Business, Career,
Work, Financial, Wealth, Relationships, Family, Social, Love, Home, Health,
Wellbeing, Personal Development, Growth, Character, Intellectual, Emotional,
Spiritual, Faith, Quality of Life, Fun, Recreation, Hobbies, Pleasure, Challenges,
Travel.
SETTING SMARTER measurement
SPECIFIC – as specific and descriptive as you can get it.
YOUR MEASURABLE – describe the outcome, the milestones along the way
and how can you check progress over time.
’
ACTIONABLE – action verbs so not ‘I want to read rather ’I will read x’.
GOALS RELATABLE – have stretch goals but ask yourself if it is realistic based
upon your current situation so you can accomplish them.
TIME-BOUND – it needs a date for completion and not just a generic
‘this phase!’
EXCITING – with a clear ‘Why’ so you are motivated to achieve it.
REWARD – celebrate all your wins and achievements. Set up rewards
when you get to certain milestones or achieve goals.
