Hand 5
Again, with only 21 points for the

deal. As we have no guard on the diamond Ë 8 7
gate it also looks as if we should have a Ê A K 2
trump suit. and with 8 cards between us in Í A 7 Í 5 3 2

Add tricks from other sources (P. L. P.).
We have 3 slow tricks by power in spades. Well that is enough for a part
score.
Loser check. We have 1 loser in spades, 1 in hearts, 2 in diamonds and 1
in clubs. Total 5. That is okay because in a part score we are allowed to
lose 6.
Manage the hand. We are going to win the lead as soon as we can and play
spades to draw out their Ace. When we get the lead back we draw just
enough trumps to run the opponents out and then play our Aces and
Kings.
Notice 2 things about this hand.
1. We play on the suits that need work first.
2. Part score hands are often more difficult than game hands because
we have to lose the lead more often making it more difficult to
remember the cards that have gone.
