Feathers

Birds are covered with feathers. Feathers help them to

fly. They also protect birds from rain and cold.

                                         Fur or Wool

Animals such as sheep, bears, and human beings are
called mammals. However, unlike human beings,

sheep and bears do not wear clothes. Sheep and bears
have special body coverings like wool and fur

respectively, that protect them from rain and cold.

            Other Body Coverings

A lion has hair that help it to blend with the background so that it cannot be
seen easily. This is called camouflage.

A porcupine has sharp, needle-like spines called quills on its body for
protection against enemies. Insects such as bees and ants have a waxy and

water-resistant outer covering called a cuticle. Animals like armadillo have
hard, armour-like plates that provide protection from enemies.

                                                    Feeding Habits

According to the type of food animals eat,
                                                                                             Brainy Bites
                                                                                             Brainy Bites
they are classified as herbivores (plant Brainy Bites
eating), carnivores (flesh eating) and Animals such as rabbit, squirrel,
omnivores (both plant and flesh eating). Their mouse gnaw or nibble their food
                                                                                 and are called rodents.
mouth parts are modified according to the
            type of food they eat.
