310: Tips and Tricks to Giving More Engaging Presentations on School Finance

Frequently, people who present on finance can make the mistake of thinking the audience are well versed
on this topic. So, they use big words or insider lingo and speak way over everyone’s heads. This presen-
tation will help school finance professionals learn strategies they can use to help interact and engage with
their audience. Attendees will learn key techniques that include powerful storytelling, understanding their
target audience, getting rid of using filler words (um, like, etc.), using graphics and videos to tell story on
slides, how to write talking points to stop reading the entire slide when presenting PLUS more takeaways.

Speakers: Heidi Otero - Arizona School Boards Association & Adriana Parsons - Glendale
        Elementary School District
        Track: Professional Development
