3.4 Anselin Local Moran’s I evaluation
In order to obtain stronger results in terms of hot spot and cold spot areas, Anselin Local Moran’s I analysis was
applied. Given a set of weighted features, this method identifies statistically significant hot spots, cold spots, and spatial
outliers. As shown in Fig. 4, until October 21, 2020, only one high-high cluster was found in the center of Iran, including Qom,
Alborz, Tehran, Qazvin, and Markazi. This high-high cluster delineated that the risk of COVID-19 was way higher in these
five provinces, compared to other regions of Iran.
