Science to introduce the “slow stream” for the study of first year
mathematics (Miranda, Gideon, & Mugochi, 2013). It is my contention that
this measure has done little, if any to improve the students’ performance
in mathematics. In the following sections I present the students’
performance in mathematics courses at the University of Namibia. As in
the case of the learners at secondary school level, their performance is not
impressive (Tables 2(a) to (e)).
