About the Orvis Knot
with Tom Rosenbauer
For more than forty years, Tom Rosenbauer has worked in a variety of
capacities for Vermont’s Orvis Company, the country’s oldest hunting and
fishing mail-order company founded in 1856. He has also written some of
the most instructive books to date on fly fishing. His book, The Orvis
Guide to Fly Fishing, is one of the most accessible introductions to the
sport published in the modern era. I’ve had some superb days fishing
with Tom, including time spent with him and Capt. Tony Biski on the flats
of Monomoy Island off the coast of Cape Cod and with Tom on the
Battenkill in Vermont.
