5.2.6 Orthopedic Conditions



                   Ar thritis
                   Inflammation of one or more joints, c ausing p ain and stiffness.


                   Osteoar thritis
                   A degenerative joint dise ase resul ting in c ar tilage bre akdown.


                   Rheumatoid Ar thritis
                   An autoimmune dise ase that c auses inflammation of the joints.


                   Bursitis
                   Inflammation of a bursa, a small fluid-filled sac that reduces fr iction bet ween tissues


                   Tendonitis
                   Inflammation of a tendon, often due to overuse.

                   Scoliosis
                   Abnor mal lateral cur vature of the spine.


                   Kyphosis
                   Excessive out ward cur vature of the spine, le ading to a hunched posture.


                   Lordosis
                   Excessive inward cur vature of the lumb ar spine.

                   Osteoporosis
                   A condition character ized by we akened bones, incre asing fracture r isk.


                   Bone Tumor
                   An abnor mal growth of tissue in the bone, which may be benign or malignant.
