She quickly guides them through the crowds of people, to the two

elevators which, compared to the hotel's classic and slightly old-fashioned
appearance, are very modern. The elevator they are going with arrives with a

small “bing”, and like the foyer, it is filled with people, all trying to squeeze

themselves out at the same time. Gustav frowns at the emerging mass, and put
his arm around Claire’s tight, but soft body. He looks at her; she seems unaffected

by the situation. He is aware that the choice of hotel is intended as a "cheerful

feature" for the trip on her part.
As soon as the elevator is emptied out, they, as well as many other guests,

are filling up the elevator; almost reminds of a scene from Tokyo transport.
They place themselves in front of the door, so they can quickly get off. He says in

a light, almost high pitched voice so that his perfectly trimmed moustache

vibrates. “Get this damn thing going.” His annoyance is noticeable.
The elevator doors close, it sets in motion upwards.

A little man looks intently around the faces of the elevator until he catches

sight of Claire. “Ohh, you are the newly arrived guests, are you not?“
A low-pitched Claire answers him with a wry smile. ”Yes we have just arrived"

The little man takes to his head, rolls his eyes, and says as if the other guests in
the elevator doesn’t exist. “Ahh, Monika Lehmann. I’m monsieur Luipont. At your

service. Glad I reached you in time. " They do not have time to respond before the

elevator stops on the first floors, people start squeezing themselves out.
“Au revoir, au revoir, sleep well” Out in front of the door, four couples are

waiting for an available elevator, as they want to enter the elevator, they are

stopped by Mr. Luipont who with brisk face folds his arms to the side and locks
the door. “Pardon me, we have some other important guests coming up, so I will

have ask you to wait outside until the elevator comes back.”

"Well, there is still a space,” exclaims a young busy businessman happily. Luipont
sends him an icy gaze that leaves no living soul in doubt that he means what he

                   just said.

“Here in the hotel, Mr. Luipont's words are law,” says Luipont’s servant, a
piccolo named Ricardo. The elevator door slides back in, after which it continues

upwards. The same scenario repeats itself, until there are no new passengers,
and in the end it’s only Luipont, Christa, Gustav and Claire.
