“As I see it, the case is rolled into one big mess. That is the top, the peak of
German business we are dealing with. I think it's about getting us away. I don't
think we can expect much from Tom right now. If he wanted to do any sudden
moves, he would have done it by now. His hands are tied – literally."
There is a buzz from a helicopter flying at high speed over their heads, then flies
away leaving the area. Karin's phone rings. It is the call they are both waiting for.
“We have been taking photos of the entire area, and we do not see any abnormal
activity. So far everything goes according to plan. We will be with you soon. ”
Olina and Ahmed are in the helicopter. An overflight of the area before such an
important mission is common procedure.
“We have two good positions here. Perhaps we should have brought some more
equipment with us, hmmm; otherwise it all looks fine,” says Karin and puts the
phone back.
After that they crawl down from the roof and into the Mercedes, parked by
them. Karin starts the car and drives it around so that they now have the full
scope of the rest area 10 A. They let the engine run to keep warm while they
wait.
“Claire, bloody hell. Why didn't you just let me deal with that case? I'll take care
of Tom. Why the hell are you interfering? That wasn't part of the plan."
“You are slow, Rainar. You haven’t managed to keep the Danes out of Germany.
If we let their top agent die down here, you can be more than sure that we have
an entire squad of agents from all over the world running after us. You shouldn't
have given him reason sniff around. How could that happen?"
"Listen here, girl," replies Rainar with anger in his voice, a mix of fury and
desperation. “Either you have been testing me and my patience or you have
consciously misguided me to fuck up this case. I choose to believe the first one. "
"Rainar, how many fools do you think exist in Munich? And do you honestly
think that it's smart to have a Danish top agent finds Kräsen's headquarters
alongside our private address. He starts digging around without any
intervention? Answer me sincerely, why didn't you stop him before "
"Shut the fuck up," Rainar says, as loud as he can without shouting.
“Wasn't it part of the deal that we would let him snoop around for a while
before we interfered? What's the problem with him being out in the field now? "
