that this was a kind of politically motivated act."

The chief then proceeds to return to his seat, while making a gesture towards the
                   mayor.

Gustavson walks forward, he’s sweating, and under his arms he now has two big

                   splotches of sweat.
“It is with great regret that we in the city council have witnessed the terrible

actions that took place last night. We acknowledge that there have been

irregularities in the operation of our security system. ”
There is a slight, almost inaudible, booing from some of the press people. The

mayor’s head turns red, and he looks like someone who is about to lose control.
He is well known for his outbursts of anger. But it will be a sure political suicide

if he loses control here in this very situation. He knows, that if people haven’t

already lost their faith in his abilities as mayor, he will sure lose the last remnant
of credibility if everyone saw him explode in anger on national television.

Rumours have been circulating for years about his mental instability.

“I can assure you that we, the city council, will do everything in our power to
support the police in finding the guilty and having them prosecuted. I will also

add that the citizens, who have been robbed that evening, will each receive a
compensation of £20. We consider it our full responsibility that the light in the

square was delayed for so long due to failure of the generators."

Several of the people in attendance begin applauding due to his last comment.
Often, Gustavson is good at fighting when his back is against the wall. He gets

sufficiently defensive, but this time it feels different. His inner voice tells him that

                   he is finished.
A female predator in the crowd is the first one to ask a question.

“Hi, I'm Angela Cox from BBC1. I have a question for the chief of police."

She stares directly at Vince, who has been hiding in the background, but now has
to go forth again, back to the microphone, back in the spotlight. For some odd

reason, he thought that he wouldn’t have to answer questions today. In his mind

it was all for the mayor.
                   Stupid.

The sudden thought of a self-deception attempted to convince, for a few minutes,
that perhaps he wasn’t the interesting one today.
