The female predator’s pointed lips are now right in front of him. He realizes how
naive he has been; hoping Frank would take all the punches.
"Yes, shoot!"
The chief of police steps forward and takes the seat at the microphone stand. He
wilts and groans, while fiddling his pipe in his pocket.
"When do you expect to have new information for people, and when can we
expect a reopening of the amusement park?"
“I’ll have to answer this first question first, since that’s the easiest for me to say.
We reckon we have moved on, having gathered further results, during the
afternoon or early evening. We have sent all of our patrol cars out there; they’ll
be collecting information from the citizens who are of interest.."
He breathes heavily and wipes the sweat from his forehead.
"Your second question about when we expect the pier and the rides to be up
and running again. Hmm, sometime around next week. Mid next week, right?”
The chief says, looking at the mayor, who nods.
“Let me put this briefly; we have been promised that all electricity supply should
be ready by Tuesday from the power plants. The pier will function again
normally and the traders do not lose their earnings. However, possible
operational disruptions must be anticipated."
The reporter nods in agreement. The police chief points to a man in brown suit,
who sits slightly behind the others, but who had marked himself with a raised
hand, from the start of the conference.
"Jonathan from the Guardian," he says, adjusting his small, round steel glasses.
"Do you know anything about who could’ve come up with such an act? Does the
police have any suspects or are you completely without any clues?"
The Chief of Police nods then answers.
“Of course we have some that we would like to talk to regarding this incident.
Nobody’s under direct suspicion at this point, but we always have the same
procedure when we investigate, and the people who have previously done
something along the lines of that crime, is of course of interest. ”
"Is it to be understood, that you have some suspects?" Jonathan continues.
