“Yes,” says the police chief, “as I understand, there are several so-called
pickpocket gangs in town. I mean, those gangs are mostly associated with small-
scale crime; they wouldn’t go out and do something that leaves the city quiet.
They’ll have nothing to rob. "
"Agree." says the other officer, who’s been quiet so far. He has a silly look on his
face, as if he already knows that his comment is inappropriate in relation to the
seriousness of the situation.
“That is also the reasoning we had in the first place. It was a mere coincidence
that the young Pakistani started talking to us. We think it's about the rivalry

air."
"Let me explain, I’ll try to make it short." The officer continues unabated.
"Well, look, we asked if they had experienced any suspicions activity yesterday.
We had a clear feeling that they had nothing to do with it, as they had been
following us around the area. They wanted it to look accidental, but we could
sense that they wanted to talk to us, and rightly so. They told us that there is
currently a "fight" between the two gangs and that they will not interfere in this
case. They told us, that the other ones, those from the east gang, have gotten
worse, and that they have heard rumours from friends, that they were planning
to do something big."
"Hmm," says the chief, now looking to the mayor, who is shaking his head.
“Have you obtained a report, and do you have any idea who might be in the so-
