Bernard Ferst sat with a pencil in his hand and skimmed the speech he was

supposed to give. He did not lift his eyes from his papers.
"Honestly, I had hoped I could only send you."

With a blend of haughtiness and contempt, he thought about the task he should

solve. Normally he did not give the farmer-dwarf a thought. So far, it had been
enough to send Herman Osten as his deputy.

But now he wanted to see results, because he had a superior that had to be
satisfied. And the construction went too slow. Way too slow.

Maybe it will be a good day today, he thought.

"Apparently there are people in the yard who think they have ended up in a
Marxist work camp where they only work when it suits them. It is completely

unacceptable with the many job strikes. And when they can’t stop it - I have to."

Herman Osten smiled nervously, straightened his tie, before he eagerly vented

                   air into his lungs.
"This morning I sent 50 commies away. And a bunch of young soldiers as well.

They’re waiting, when we arrive. As soon as I realized that there were problems

in the yard - I found it absolutely necessary to act. "
With a quick move, Bernard Ferst laid down the papers, while a smile spread

over his face. He took the glasses a little down on his artificial nose and looked

directly in the eyes of Herman Osten.
"It was a surprise. A nice surprise. "

He struck a loud laugh and instantly felt better.

"It is fine. I expected them first promotion in a week's time. Then, perhaps, the
construction may not be delayed? "

"No, Mr. General," replied Herman Osten.

Bernard Ferst nodded and made signs with the hand that Osten should continue.
"Nobody wants to mess with the peasants. It is a prestigious project that has

enormous significance for the Reichsmarschall and for Der Führer, for the whole
                   party.
