The use of cockscombing can enhance a simple
handrail, a walking cane, an otherwise plain alumi-
num lawn chair, or perhaps the column of the gear
stick on that old banger. It certainly adds grip and
life to an otherwise rather plain surface. A word to
the wise, however: If the original rail is painted over
after knotting is applied, be prepared to remake the
entire covering when it comes time to repaint!
