the Button Knot
This knot forms a button from a single or even two
cords. The button produced is at once intricate,
decorative, and yet completely functional. When
inserted into a loop, the button was difficult to
loosen, and I take it as a symbol of permanence. I
take great satisfaction in making these delightful
little knots.
3 move the left part of the figure-of-eight loop up
under the left cord.
1 form an overhand clockwise loop in the centre
of your cord.
4 Wrap the right cord anti-clockwise over this
last loop.
2 take the lower edge of the loop in your left
hand, palm downward, and turn it upward
and to the left, palm upward now, to form the
figure-of-eight loop.
5 Continue with the
right cord anti-clockwise,
pulling it under the right part of the figure-of-
eight loop.
