            that the time when missionary James E. Adams settled in Daegu in 1897 was the beginning
            of the church.  The old chapel of the First Presbyterian Church of Daegu was designated
            as Daegu Tangible Cultural Heritage No. 30 on January 7, 1992.  There are Dongsan
            Hospital and Shinmyung Girls’ High School over the fences of the church. For this reason,
            the First Presbyterian Church of Daegu is involved in historical sites. There are the March
            1 Independence Movement Memorial Tower at Shinmyung Girls’ High School, Dongsan
            Medical Center and Medical Mission Museum, and the apple tree that became the origin
            of Daegu apples. There is the direct descendent of Daegu first apple tree that Dr. Johnson,
            who founded Jejungwon (currently Keimyung University Dongsan Hospital) in 1899, brought
            from Missouri, the United States, and planted in his house. Daegu City has designated and

            managed it as a protected tree.
