B”H KST GENERAL MEMBERSHIP MEETING June 3, 2025, 19:30 7th SIVAN, 5785 1. Dvar Torah: Sabine gave the Dvar Torah. She described how in Parshat Naso each tribe brought the identical offering to the Mishkan, but each brought it on a different day. Commentators explain this as emphasizing that everyone needs to contribute to the Mishkan but each one who contributes is unique. Similarly, the parsha also includes the wording of the Birkat Kohanim, the blessing that Hashem gives the nation through the conduit of the Kohanim. The wording of the blessing, however, is in the singular, not plural format. Again, the emphasis is on each individual both contributing to the Mishkan and receiving an individual blessing. This is a metaphor for our community, especially during difficult times of tragedy, war and global dangers, which allows each of us to contribute to our Kehilla and to Am Yisrael in our own unique way and to receive individual, as well as, communal blessings, G-d willing. She also thanked the Vaad and all the volunteers for the gratifying opportunity to be part of the KST project. 2. Minutes of the 2024 General membership meeting were approved. 3. Sam- Thanked many, many volunteers, including Gabbaim, House committee, Finance committee, Audit Committee, Membership Committee, Ritual Committee, Contact with Beit Frankforter, Kiddush Committee, Chesed Committee, Shiurim and Learning Committee, Women’s Learning Group organizers, Baalei Kriah, What’sapp Manager, Website Manager, Sima (director of BF) and her staff and many other people who provide help in setting up and taking down the chairs etc. 4. Financial report: Marty provided this report. In 2024, we had receipts of 51000 nis (dues and donations), less than previous year because we reduced membership dues from 500 per person to 250 per person. Our expenditures for 2024 were 28000 nis, including rent, insurance, accountant fees, Kiddush expenses, and miscellaneous. In 2025 (January to June so far), receipts are 5000 nis (new member dues and donations for Kiddush and other), but that is because dues are collected in the fall. Expenses for this time frame were 12,600 nis, approximately, less than current receipts, but will be offset when yearly dues are received. Approximately 88,000 NIS is the bank (50,000 of this amount is in interest bearing account). The treasurer’s report was accepted. 5. Audit report: Nathan reported that the committee reviewed and compared the accounts and found all in order. 6. Membership report: Jack said the committee now uses a spreadsheet to keep track of membership. KST has 73 family units, (this includes 131 individuals). There has been slight increase. He recommends the new Vaad discuss Rosh Hashanah and Yom Kippur arrangements early, since space is always limited, and we prefer to not turn people away. We need to have an accurate assessment of the seating capacity as well as earlier seat registration to know more clearly how many we will need to accommodate and discuss options. KST will also need to consider hiring Baalei Tefillah if necessary. 7. Programming: KST had a successful Chanukah trivia night and an excellent program by Aryeh Halivni about his video testimony project, www.Toldot.org. The new Vaad will discuss future programs to meet the wishes of the community, recognizing that members also participate in many programs outside of KST. 8. Election: The VAAD consists of 7 members. 4 members are in the middle of their terms. 3 members were completing their terms (Sabine, Jack and Marilyn). Sabine and Jack decided not to stand for re-election. Shelley Helfand, Jerry Zahtz and Marilyn were standing for the current election. No other candidates had been proposed. The membership voted to elect the three members (Shelley, Jerry and Marilyn) to join the VAAD. 9. Good and Welfare: A suggestion was made to have flowers next Shavuot and to hang an Israeli Flag during the weeks of Yom Hashoah, Yom Hazikaron, Yom Haatzmaut and Yom Yerushalayim. There was unanimous agreement. The Kehilla thanks Sam for his dedicated leadership!Meeting adjourned at 20:30 am. Respectfully submitted, Sabine Himmelfarb
