Meeting of KST VAAD March 5, 2025 10:30 5th Adar, 5785 B%u201dH Attendees: Sam Kapustin, Kal Feinberg, Rabbi Goldin, Sabine Himmelfarb, Jack Martell, Marilyn Mack, Marty Weisberg 1. Dvar Torah: Sam gave the Dvar Torah. He described the Mishkan (and the Beit Hamikdash) as a means to become closer to Hashem, not as an end. The prophets railed against a nation that brings sacrifices but does not fulfill Godliness in its behavior. Similarly, every shul and KST needs to not be theend but the means to become closer to Hashem. 2. Minutes of November meeting were approved. 3. Trivia night revie The event was break-even as far as costs. It was a successful evening that people enjoyed. Things to consider for next year: a date that doesn%u2019t conflict with Chanukah family celebrations, fewer rounds of questions, more paper on tables for noting responses. 4. Financial report: Approximately 88,000 NIS in bank (50,000 of this amount is in interest bearing account.) Our expenses are limited to rent, kiddush costs and miscellaneous, so KST has funds for things that may enhance our programs. 5. Facility: There was discussion about the possible future use of the Tunisian shul which is currently controlled by the municipality and has other groups interested in applying to complete and use it. Decision of the VAAD was that we certainly would be interested in renting, if and when the building is complete. Under present circumstances, KST will not undertake responsibility for fund raising and the lengthy application process. We are aware that the lobby at BF is not ideal for women who participate in the tefillah for several reasons (temperature, sound etc.) We will consider requesting to use the upstairs room for weeklyShabbat morning tefillah which will require hiring a shomer to monitor the door and operate the elevator and purchasing and storing portable mechitza panels, as well as additional set up upstairs. 6. Purim: Discussion about spaces to use for Megillah reading to accommodate everyone to be able to hear the Megillah. R. Goldin will check whether the Megillah reading requires a mechitza. Meeting adjourned 11:30 am. Respectfully submitted, Sabine Himmelfarb
