HORIZON, 2020-21
My experience with
2020

2020 - An unprecedented year, a year that
challenged everyone in ways they never would've
have imagined. A year that threw us all, head-first,
into the deep end. Saw the world grow smaller, and
TV, screens bigger.
I’d say more than anything else, it was a year of
lessons. The things 2020 taught me, no other year
ever will. Feeling trapped within four walls, staring at
a 15 inch screen is not how I envisioned my most
important year of medical school. And yet, even
through boulders, flowers bloom. I learnt
intermediate Spanish, learnt how to cook, started a
poetry blog and explored different forms of art. I
made new friends and rekindled bonds with
family. I rallied behind NGOs and collected funds for
several communities that required aid. I played
Among Us, organised virtual parties and even made
a tik tok (yeah, just one!)
As much as 2020 was challenging, it helped me
grow. And here in 2021, the Covid ward patients
