Haverford Township Free Library

Location: Haverford, Pennsylvania

Design Statement: Bernardon is currently providing
design services for the Haverford Township Free
Library renovations. The overarching goal of the
renovations is to create a vibrant, welcoming, and
nurturing community hub for creative learning.

Highlights of the project include replacement windows
in the historic portion of the library, a former bank
building that housed the library since 1938. The design
team has created a soaring, transparent entrance that
beckons the community to enter and join the activities
inside. A stair gracefully winds around the new elevator
and beyond. The first floor features a welcoming area,
circulation desk, fiction/non-fiction and historical
collections, laptop bars, public access computers, and
meeting space. The former two-story bank lobby will be
converted into a reading room centered around a fireplace
