Introduction
One day a Catholic Sister is travelling from one city to the other in
her modest car, singing as she drives along the expansive road.
She feels the breeze of the forest wind blowing past her face and
ruffling her hair. She looks around as the mountains disappear into
a field of hays and the sound of her engine changes as she
engages a new gear. Well, she is at peace with herself and her
life. Suddenly the engine cuts out and she realizes that she is out
of fuel in the middle of nowhere! This has never happened to her
before and she wonders what to do. She is not very pleased with
herself for being so absent minded as not to check the fuel gauge.
She remembers a petrol station not very far away from her location
and she is relieved and hope that she may be able to bring back
fuel from the station.
She walks briskly to the station and the assistant asks what she
wants and she explains her predicament of running out of fuel. The
Assistant, being the only one in the station says he cannot go with
her to the car but will find a container to put some fuel to get her to
her location.
The diligent assistant looks for container everywhere but couldn’t
find any. As he looks around the premises, he sees an unused
potty. He asks if sister will take the fuel in that and she agrees.
Sister walks back to her car with the potty and open the fuel
compartment. A young man driving in his expensive Jaguar slows
down to see if the sister needs help. He sees that the sister is
pouring something from the potty inside the car. This young man
says to the sister with a tone of bewilderment ‘sister I really admire
your faith’ This young man concludes that the sister is pouring
urine inside the car with the faith that the urine will drive the car
instead of petrol.
What is the point of this story? Things are not what they seem
sometimes, our perception influences our judgement and action.
In this book, I want you to suspend your perception just until you
finish the book so that you may get the most out of it. Yes, it is a
business book but it is written in such a conversational style that
you can adapt the lessons to any area of your life. Keep an open
mind as you read and don’t just read it once, but several times so
