INTRODUCTION
Agriculture is the main source of national income in most developing countries including Namibia.
However, for developed countries agriculture contribute a smaller percentage to their national
income. Agriculture in Namibia contributes around 5% of the national gross domestic products
though 25% to 40 % of Namibia depends on subsistence agriculture and herding. Tsumeb district
is one the maize triangle with commercial farms which contribute to the economy and food security
of the country (agronomic 2017-2019).
According to (Martin Lackeus 2015) Entrepreneurship intends to impart the basic concepts of
entrepreneurial skills to the learners that will enable them to create jobs for themselves as well as
for others in future. It will help learners to apply the business knowledge, skills and attitudes
acquired to solve environmental, economic and social problems in their everyday lives Enterprise
(SME).
Most of the schools in Namibia were affected by Covid-19 pandemic in their school curriculum,
including Etosha SSS. Teachers has to adopt new innovation online learning, creating what sup
group where they have to share learning materials. This was due to regulation of Covid -19
lockdown. It was identified that learners in grade 8-9 doing agriculture and entrepreneurs has
faced challenges when it comes to practical’s activities. The study has interviewed 34 leaners doing
agriculture in grade 8 and 48 learners in grade 9, at Etosha SSS in Oshikoto region and 91 in grade
8 and 19 in grade 9 doing entrepreurship, 2teachers for entrepreurship and 1 for agriculture.
This booklet focus on the major challenges faced by learners who supposed to do practical
activities in agriculture and entrepreneurship in grade 8-9 at Etosha SSS and its further highlight
solutions to overcome these challenges.
