OPERATIONS UPDATES

                                                         Operational Excellence Coins

Chad Snyder, Superintendent DC3 was nominated by Marc Hackett for his Q2
          Director’s Coin

I am pleased to present the Director’s Coin for Operational Excellence to Chad Snyder, Superintendent DC3.
Chad recently submitted a close call report of damage that detailed a chain of events that potentially could have
been an “out of limits” or even an “on track incident”. What is particularly great about Chad’s narrative is how
he began the story at the point he first became uncomfortable with his pilot. This event unfolded over the
course of several minutes and clearly showed Loram had been sent a pilot who was not qualified for the job.
Chad took action and “stopped the line” acting on behalf of his crew as a leader, taking the safe course. This
demonstration of how to do it the right way is worth recognizing. Chad realized something was wrong and
stood up to correct it. Thank you Chad. Thank you for being engaged and for not being afraid to making the
tough call to stop, clarify the rules, and take the safe course. Congratulations Chad.

Rich Kopka, Senior Technician and Jason Young, Senior Technician were nomi-
nated by Wade Sprengeler for his May and June General Recognition Coin

SBC12 has many years of service under its belt and the time has come to do an overhaul on the mechanical, hydrau-
lic and electrical system. Rich Kopka and Jason Young have been the backbone of the electrical SBC12 overhaul.
With a machine of this age schematics and associated documentation is limited. We have been able to leverage their
experience and expertise to tackle this project. There attention to detail and pride in their work is second to none.
Both Jason and Rich understand that their quality of work will determine the long-term success and reliability of this
machine. I have heard multiple compliments on the progress, scope and quality of the work they are doing. If we
were to talk attaching a Core Value to their work, I would say pick one. There work is top notch and much appreci-
         ated. Thanks Rich and Jason
