Pass Rates by Gender for CSEC
In 2017, passing grades were obtained in the 69.88 % of the 42 479 subject entries
written by females compared to 62.93 % of the 30 794 subject entries written by
males.
Pass Rates – Five and More Subjects
In 2017, 57.92% (7 698) of the students writing the CSEC examination were
successful in 5 or more subjects.
Further, 52.2% (6 833) of the students who attempted 5 or more subjects were
successful in 5 or more subjects inclusive of Mathematics and English.
Results for CAPE 2017
Approximately 36 797 subject entries were registered for CAPE 2017 and 34 935 subject
entries were written by candidates. Thirty-three 33 Unit I and thirty-two (32) Unit II subjects
were written at CAPE.
Pass rates for CAPE 2017
In 2017, 94.85% (33 140) of written CAPE subject entries achieved acceptable passes i.e.
Grades I-V. This was a small improvement from the 94.45% (32 485) achieving acceptable
passes in 2016.
In 2017, 27.35% (9 556) subject entries attained Grade I and 25.70% (8 978) subject
entries attained Grade II. This was an increase from 23.40% (8 049) achieving a
Grade I and 24.79% (8 528) achieving a Grade II in 2016.
