Unit I Performance by Subject Entries

In 2017, 95.06% (22 426) of written CAPE Unit I subject entries achieved acceptable passes
i.e. Grades I-V. This percentage was an improvement over 2016 with 94.6% (22 357)
achieving acceptable passes. Performance in CAPE Unit I continued to be excellent with 25
out of 33 subjects attaining a pass rate of 90% and above.

Three subjects had attainment rates of 100% - Art and Design, Animation and Game Design
and Electrical and Electronic Engineering Technology.

Eleven subjects registered improvement from 2016 to 2017 including – Biology, Caribbean
Studies, Chemistry, Communication Studies, Computer Science, Digital Media, Electrical &
Electronic Tech., Information Technology, Literatures in English, Logistics and Supply
Chain Operations and Sociology.

Unit II Performance

In 2017, 94.44% (10 714) of written CAPE Unit II subject entries achieved acceptable passes
i.e. Grades I-V. This was a slight improvement from the 94.10% (10 128) achieving
acceptable passes in 2016.

Performance in CAPE Unit II continued to be excellent with 24 out of 32 subjects attaining a
pass rate of 90% and above.

Six subjects had attainment rates of 100% - Art and Design, Agricultural Science, Electrical
and Electronic Engineering Technology (Option A), Electrical and Electronic Engineering
Technology (Option B), Performing Arts (Drama) and Performing Arts (Music)

Ten subjects registered improvement in 2017 including- Agricultural Science, Economics,
Chemistry, Entrepreneurship, Environmental Science, Food and Nutrition, Geography,
History, Literatures in English and Sociology.
