construct. In addition, the questions about programming syntax as specific objective 5 will be
different and must be considered when setting examination items.

                   3. SBA CONCERNS

               Database Management section
Task d. ONE form, showing a main and sub-form and VBA control button... . VBA is an
OPTION. What about the students that are doing Pascal? Is this task to use the control button
wizard – no programming required? If so the VBA should be removed and simply have

               "control button ...".

               Problem-solving and Programming Section

This assignment should use Pascal or VBA code. If VBA code is being used, then it should
be a part of the spreadsheet workbook … Why limit the VBA programming to the
spreadsheet application? Why do not allow the student to put some functionality behind the
fillable form for example or add more functionally to the database? This defeats the purpose
               of introducing VBA

The SBA mark scheme uses "Add VBA control to Form". Again, VBA should be removed
and replaced with "Add control to Form" as the students have an option.

                   4. SBA mark scheme for Problem-solving and Programming Section

Specific objective S7:SO5 and S8:SO5. Initializing variables are worth 2 marks. What if the
program logic does not require that any variable need to be initialize? Eg. Find the sum of
two numbers entered by the user and display the result.

                4. EQUIPMENT

Visual Basic for Applications is a built-in component of the Microsoft suite of applications
“and will be used” for teaching of the programming section of the syllabus. Students are

given an option so this has to be reworded accordingly.
