The new reality of golf at Briarwood CC until further notice:
• To avoid clusters of people in gatherings greater than ten people, there will be no shotguns. Tee times only using a
single tee or double tee.
• Single carts are allowed at member’s option, but not currently mandatory in AZ.
• Observe directives for social distancing everywhere on the golf course.
• Wash hands thoroughly in rest rooms. Recommending members/guests carry/use hand sanitizer after touching
doorknobs, hand towel areas, and the like.
• Putt your ball into the hole with the flagstick so flagsticks will not be touched. Foam inserts (two inch pool noodle
sections) were installed so players can take their ball out with less chance of touching the flagstick. Adopted Local Rule:
If ball pops back out due to the insert, ball is deemed holed.
• Bunker rakes have been removed. All players will employ lift, clean, smooth, and place in all bunkers.
• Scoops were removed from the divot fill boxes.
• Players will not use the on-course ball washers. They have been recently removed from the course.
• Practice putting green flagsticks have been removed. Foam inserts have been installed.
• The Club’s green towel service (club cleaning) has been suspended until further notice.
• Players have been instructed not to touch another player’s ball nor their tee, and also not share pencils.
• Exchanging scorecards in tournament play is not encouraged.
• Members are encouraged to wipe down and sanitize their carts, including steering wheels, handles top and bottom as
well as divot fill bottles.
• The last outing was Lawmen on March 24. Rental carts, lease carts, and member volunteer carts were sanitized
before and after use by the golf staff. This group also skipped lunch for a slightly lower per-person fee and left
immediately after golf.
• Entering the golf shop is restricted. Players can check in at the window. Any other service (merchandise purchase),
people may come in however the number in the room shall be limited. Staff are not allowed to touch players’ equipment.
• There is locker room access for restroom use however there will be no pass through into the main clubhouse. The
clubhouse is closed.
• Tee sheets are displayed outside the golf shop at a central check-in area. Group play scorecards are to be picked up
there. Handicap sheets are posted on an easel for reading; no one will have to touch the sheets.
• Players are discouraged from shaking hands after the round in favor of an elbow bump or a toe kick.
