                                   9. A fow days aftor tho conclusion of tho abovo proceedings, I.myself
                                rccoivcd from Mjrza Mohdeo Khan a letter rclativo to the Bahrein piracies, and of
                                a' tenor inconsistent with that with which ho had addrossed to tho Pirato Chief,
                               Maliomcd bon Abdullah, nnd in which, further, he declares himself appointed-by
                               tho Government of tho Shah for rognlatiug tho affairs of tho porta nnd islands^
                               of tho Persian Gulf.
                                   10. His Excellency in Council will doubtless accord to all tho Icttcrs'ribw

                               murder, plundor, imprisonment, and everything else that,occurred,in connoolion
                               with the descendants of Khalifch ; also of your descont on Bahrein to remedy
                               matters, and of your establishing yourself in the Government, and I thankpd (jlod
                               for tho letter. I submitted to His Royal Highness Sultan Mussood Mir/.n, tho
                               Ycmccn-ood-Dowlch Governor Gcnornl of tho Provinco of Pars, that sinco tho
                               Government of Bahrein had formerly bften ih tho hands of Sheikh Abdullah bort
                               ‘ Ahmed (your father), it should now bo restored to his son; the rightful owner.' I
                               further represented to His Royal Highness your zeal for tho’servico of tho high
                               Government, and your good behaviour towards thoir; subjects. On this repre­
                               sentation, His Royal Highness was .ploascd to honor, you with a JRukum,
                               sanctioning your appointment to tho rulcrship which had been yours of pld.
                               } also submitted bj' special messenger to Ilis Majesty tho Shah.tho details of
                               the occurrences at Bahrein. I myself moved on, as soon as I could, towards (no
                               ports nnd islands to do what X was appointed for. I liopo shortly to visit
                               .Bahrein and nrrango matters. I writo this from Dnycr ; and beforo going,to
                               you, X send Ilnjeo Abd Aleo with the JRukum from tho Princo Yomcon-ood-

                               You will not bo delayed at Dayor. All that I <vont is to’sdo you,‘and to arrartgo

                               favorable to tho Chief, who lmd taken piratical possession of Bahrein nnd
                               plundered British subjects, or tonding moro to encourage breaches of tho mnn-
                               timo, pence, than that letter from which tho abovo extract is made; and X

                              jConneetion nnd contrast with his subsequent lettor to mo of 20 th' November, nut
